@Cafe NYC Vintage Cybercafe T‑Shirt – 12 St. Marks Place (1995–96)
Size Chart
Relive the birth of the web with our vintage‑style @Cafe tee, celebrating the East Village cybercafe that opened on April 25, 1995 at 12 St. Marks Place with the slogan “Eat, Drink, ‘Net.” In its 2,500‑sq‑ft space, once home to St. Mark’s Bookshop, founders Glenn McGinnis, Nicolas Barnes and Chris Townsend outfitted dining tables with PCs and Macs, served sandwiches and sushi against brick walls, charged $5 per half‑hour for dial‑up access via fly.net and paid a $9 k/mo T1 line to keep the connections humming. The café hosted high‑profile events like The WELL’s 10th anniversary, Rolling Stones Voodoo Lounge CD‑ROM launch, the Wall Street Journal’s Interactive Edition premiere and an interactive New Year’s Eve party, and it became a hub for Silicon Alley pioneers, Webgrrls meet‑ups and NYC tech culture. Though @Cafe closed in 1996 after only a year, this shirt captures its pioneering spirit—with art inspired by its “@” logo and computer‑lined tables letting you wear a piece of NYC and internet history.
