Vintage Spider’s Web Roller Rink T-Shirt Lake Kampeska Stony Point Watertown SD
Size Chart
Celebrate South Dakota skating history with this vintage style Spider’s Web roller rink T shirt inspired by the beloved round rink at Stony Point on Lake Kampeska just west of Watertown. Opened in 1912 with a distinctive cone roof and lighthouse cupola the rink’s roof collapsed in the heavy snows of the winter of 1946 and 1947 then locals rebuilt it as Spiderweb II around 1947 and the Spider’s Web name lived on through the 1950s and in memories into the 1960s and 1970s. The circular floor plan placed skate rentals in the center so you entered in the middle and skated the ring with wraparound windows framing lake views. The rink sat inside a lively resort complex with the Spider Palace dance hall plus bowling billiards and a legendary long bar creating a classic Upper Midwest lake amusements scene remembered for school and Luther League parties and big band nights that made Stony Point feel like the Okoboji and Minnetonka of the West. Today the legacy survives at The Prop on Lake Kampeska and in new Stony Point redevelopment that nods to its amusement past. Pull on this soft retro tee to honor a true Watertown landmark of skating music and summer crowd energy.
